The Neal Family Vineyards Rutherford Dust Vineyards Vermentino displays a star-bright straw hue and opens with a vibrant bouquet of Meyer lemon peel, ripe mandarin, and fresh lemongrass, underscored by delicate white floral notes and a touch of bay leaf. On the palate, the wine delivers a refreshing interplay of juicy nectarine and crisp citrus, leading to a sophisticated finish characterized by crushed rock minerality and a subtle hint of almond cookie. The mouthfeel is notably balanced, exhibiting a graceful richness that provides weight without sacrificing its lively, clean character.
The estate's history is rooted in over five decades of organic farming in Napa Valley, beginning when Jack and Athene Neal moved to Rutherford in 1966. Mark Neal grew up working alongside his father and officially co-founded Jack Neal & Son Vineyard Management in 1968, a company that became a pioneer in organic viticulture long before it was industry standard. In 1998, Mark realized a long-held family dream by establishing Neal Family Vineyards, a boutique operation that remains wholly family-owned and operated. Today, the winery is recognized for its commitment to sustainability, having achieved the first Regenerative Organic Certification in Napa Valley while specializing in site-specific Cabernet Sauvignon and innovative white varieties like Vermentino.
