Forge Cellars is the work of winemaker Louis Barruol. He grew up in the Southern Rhone Valley, making wine at one of the benchmark estates of Gigondas, Chateau de St. Cosme. Along with owner Rick Rainey, they produce this dry Riesling with an eye on keeping terroir front and center.
The 10th vintage made at Forge, this is the foundation of the estate, coming from 16 vineyard parcels on east Seneca Lake.
Notes of cardamom, mandarin orange and hints of thyme come through on the soft, round palate as well as the nose. Incredibly pliant and vibrant, this expressive white wine is perfect with a variety of dishes, hard cheeses, roast chicken or grilled pork.
